Tesco finds new home in Royals

The UK's leading supermarket chain, Tesco, has confirmed that it will be opening a new store in the heart of Southend's bustling shopping district. The new shop, a Tesco Express, will take up residence in The Royals Shopping Centre in Summer 2005 and will front the Heygate Avenue entrance to mall.
Taking up two units within The Royals, the brand new Tesco store will replace the current One-Stop store and will, after refurbishment, open to the public in June. The move follows Tesco's takeover of the chain all current staff will transfer to the new business.
The opening of the store adds a new dimension to the shopping experience for customers at The Royals. The premier shopping centre in town also now boasts an excellent range of essential provisions, helping customers to pick up any urgent groceries as part of the ultimate shopping experience.
Fran Galindo, the Assistant Manager of the new store, confirmed the One Stop will close on 30th April and will undergo an extensive refurbishment programme prior to its reopening, scheduled for June.
Jim Morris, Planning and Evaluation Manager for Tesco Express stores, said Tesco believed it was a good time for the nation's favourite supermarket to have a presence in the centre of Southend.
