Culture has a new home – at The Royals Shopping Centre in Southend.
The walls inside the town’s premier covered shopping mall are currently exhibiting several outstanding pieces of art created by BTEC First Diploma Art & Design students from South East Essex College.
The vibrant images are all based on the subject of ‘Promoting Culture’ and the students have all contributed to what is a truly diverse display of artistic styles, expertly showcasing the rich vein of talent studying in the town.
The challenging nature of the project has been met with intense creativity by the students. Their task was to raise the profile of a selected culture through a variety of media and through consideration of every aspect of the process, including how their finished work would be received by the audience.
Dawn Jeakings, Centre Manager of The Royals, explained: “We are pleased to host such great artwork at The Royals – it adds a new dimension for our shoppers and puts them in contact with the amazing talent we have on offer in Southend.
“We always want to offer a unique experience to our shoppers and, by giving them the chance to savour the outstanding work of Southend’s young artists, we are bringing the community closer together. ‘Promoting Cultures’ is already proving very popular and shoppers are taking the time to investigate these new additions.”
