Christmas Starts at The Royals

The festive season got off to a stylish start for two lucky shoppers – thanks to a fantastic competition at The Royals.
Liberty Heffer and Oliver Evans won places onboard Santa’s sleigh by explaining why they deserved to be a part of Southend’s spectacular Christmas launch event.
Both Liberty and Oliver took their places next to Santa on Saturday 15th November as part of this year’s Christmas Spectacular, which saw Southend’s High Street transformed into a winter wonderland.
The festive parade started at 1pm and saw Santa, in a sleigh pulled by real reindeer, whisked down the High Street. He was joined by a variety of familiar faces, including Barbie, Postman Pat, Ryan the Lion, Spongebob Squarepants and Pilot Pete.
When the parade reached The Royals, Santa took up his position on his festive throne, underneath the dome at the heart of the shopping centre.
The parade was just part of a fantastic day, full of festive fun. The day’s special events culminated with the official lights ‘switch-on’, courtesy of The Chuckle Brothers, and a sensational pyrotechnic display over the seafront.
