Toy Parade - Christmas Comes to The Royals

November 2009

The festive season is set to launch at The Royals on Saturday 14th November, with Santa arriving in a magical toy parade, accompanied by entertainers and with REAL reindeer pulling his sleigh.

The parade starts at 1pm and will travel along the High Street, before finishing outside The Royals at approximately 1.45pm.

Southend Radio is holding a special competition to offer two children the chance to ride on Santa's sleigh as part of the Magical Toy Parade.

After pulling Santa's sleigh, the real reindeers, who were a big hit at last year's event, will enjoy a well-earned rest in their special corral in Royal Square, at the top of Pier Hill, where people can view them for free until 4pm.

Meanwhile, Santa will take up position on his throne under the iconic dome at The Royals, which is part of a winter wonderland scene with animated reindeer, where he'll stay to hear the Christmas wishes of children until Christmas Eve. Tickets to meet Santa will be available in Debenhams and as he's a very busy man over Christmas, it's best to check his timetable in-store, as he might be off feeding his reindeer.

The entertainment doesn’t end there. There will be free balloon modellers and face painters on hand to keep everyone smiling throughout the whole day, while music will be provided by a brass band, wandering musicians and BBC Essex.

Visitors can also make a difference to a worthy cause, by making a donation to The Royals’ charity for the year – Essex Air Ambulance - in the wishing well under the dome.

However, this day of celebration also signals something special for grown-ups – the start of late night shopping at The Royals, with stores open until 8pm and free parking after 4pm every Thursday throughout December – making it even easier to get great gifts for the whole family.

So whether you’re looking to pick up the perfect present or you just want to get into the festive spirit and see real reindeer, simply head down to The Royals and enjoy a great start to a sensational Christmas season.
